This effectwas simulated by setting the level of one of the two carrier oscillators atdifferent values with respect to the other, and measuring the distortion andbias for each level setting. The distortion measurements are shown in Fig.17 and are summarized below in Table L It may be seen from Fig. 17 that the distortion rose rather rapidly as themarking level was changed with respect to the spacing level and thus the dis-tortion due to selective fading was not greatly reduced by the use of a limiter.The increase in distortion was mainly bias.
